Are you longing for change in your life this coming year but feel disoriented by all the unfulfilled expectations and brokenness of your past? In Luke 24.13–35 we find the disciples on the road to Emmaus completely perplexed by what had just happened. “But we had hoped…” Don’t we feel the same about 2020? About our circumstances? About our dreams? “But we had hoped…” As we look at this passage, we’ll come to learn that unfulfilled expectations often position us to experience the goodness of God and His greater plans and we’ll discern four steps that need to happen if we want to experience a turnaround in our lives.
